How NBME Score Calculator handles the limited information you share — what we collect, why, where it is stored, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.

The short version
This site has no accounts. There is nothing to register for, nothing to log into, and no password for us to lose. Every calculator runs in your browser: you can type a score, read the estimate, and leave without sending us anything at all.
We only receive information when you deliberately hand it over: when you ask for a score report by email, when you write to us, or when you post a score to a community board. This page describes exactly what each of those does.
What stays on your device
Your calculation history and study progress live in your browser's local storage — the only place they exist. They are never transmitted to us, and clearing your browser's site data for nbmescorecalculator.com deletes them permanently. This includes:
- The calculators you have used and the scores you entered
- The exam date you set for the countdown
- Practice-question statistics and question-of-the-day progress
- Study plans you generate
- A record of which community boards you have posted to
- Your light/dark theme preference and, if a consent bar was shown, your analytics choice
Because this data is stored per browser, it does not follow you to another device, and we cannot restore it if you clear it.
What we collect, and why
Score report by email
The unlock form on a calculator page asks for your name, email address, student type (US MD, US DO, IMG, or Other), and, optionally, your planned exam date. Submitting it also sends the calculator you were using and the result you had just calculated, so the emailed report can be built from it, plus a record that you ticked the consent box and whether you opted into study updates.
We use this to send you the report, and to send the study updates you asked for if you opted in. The form is optional: a "skip" link opens the same breakdown on screen without an email address.
Contact messages
The contact form sends us the name, email address, and message you type, so we can reply.
Community boards (opt-in)
Posting a score to a calculator's community board sends the display name you type and that score. It carries no email address and no identifier that ties it back to you, and we do not ask for anything else. Nothing is posted unless you type a name and tick the sharing box.
Score history and study plans
Neither one reaches us. Your saved calculations, the trend chart drawn from them, and any plan produced by the study plan generator are written to your own browser and read back from it. There is no server-side copy, which is also why none of it appears on a second device.
Technical data
Our hosting provider processes ordinary request data — such as IP address, user agent, and the URL requested — to deliver pages and defend against abuse. We do not combine it with the information above to build a profile of you.
Where it is stored
The only things that leave your browser are a score-report request, a contact message, and a community board post. Those are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database, on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Email is sent through our email provider, and newsletter opt-ins are held by our newsletter provider. These providers process the data only to perform that function.
Analytics
This site loads a third-party analytics script only when one is configured for the deployment and you have accepted it. When one is configured, a consent bar appears on your first visit with two equally weighted choices. Decline, and no analytics script is loaded at all — not a delayed one, not an anonymised one. When no analytics provider is configured, no bar appears because there is nothing to load.
Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie, and applies to that browser. Clearing your site data resets the question.
Cookies
We do not run advertising networks, and we do not use cookies to track you across other websites.
- Strictly necessary: none. With no accounts there is no session to keep, so the site sets no login cookie.
- Preferences: your theme and analytics choice are kept in local storage rather than in cookies.
- Third party: an analytics provider you have accepted, or the support chat widget when it is enabled, may set its own identifiers.
Blocking cookies does not stop anything on this site from working — the calculators run entirely on your device.
How long we keep it
- Score-report details and contact messages: until you ask us to delete them. We do not delete them on a timer.
- Community board posts: until you ask us to remove the entry.
- Score history and study plans: for as long as your browser keeps them. We hold no copy and cannot extend or shorten this.
Deleting your data
- Score-report and newsletter details: these are keyed to your email address. Email us and we will delete them.
- Community board posts: there is no self-service removal yet. Email us with the display name and calculator and we will remove the entry.
- Newsletter: every email carries an unsubscribe link.
- On-device history: clear your browser's site data for this domain. That is the whole of it — there is no account behind it to close.
To make any of these requests — including a copy of what we hold about you — contact us.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use the scores you enter for anything other than producing the estimate and, if you asked for one, the report we email you.
Children
This site is built for medical students and other candidates preparing for USMLE examinations. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Changes take effect when the revised version is posted on this page, and the date at the top reflects the last revision.
